Bangladesh Women’s team aim Gold

Bangladesh Women's cricket team is confident about winning gold at the 2019 South Asian Games (SA Games) scheduled to start on December 1. The event will play in the format of the T20.

It was back in 2010, the last time cricket was part of SA Games. Since then, without the region's most popular sport, the authorities have hosted the largest sporting event in South Asia.

"For the first time we have had the opportunity to play in the SA Games. We are looking forward to making this event unforgettable, and to do so we need to make a good start to the case, "Jahanara Alam, one of the Bangladesh team members, told the media on Friday before flying to Nepal.

Bangladesh Men's team won a Gold medal last time cricket was played in SA Games. Jahanara said at this year's SA Games they were looking for the same outcome.

"We have to continue the competition well. Our main objective in the competition is to win the award of gold, "Jahanara told the media.

Seven teams are going to compete in the SA Games women's cricket. Hosts Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and Bhutan will play in Group A while group B will play in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Maldives.

Each group's two top teams will be promoted to the event's semifinals. On December 9, the final will take place.

Bangladesh Women’s cricket team for SA Games: Salma Khatun (Captain), Nigar Sultana, Jahanara Alam, Ayesha Rahman, Fargana Haque, Murshida Khatun, Sanjida Islam, Shabnam Mustari, Fahima Khatun, Shamima Sultana, Nahida Akter, Khadija Tul Kubra, Ritu Moni, Puja Chakraborty and Rabeya Akter.
