Australian High Commissioner in Dhaka Julia Niblett on Wednesday said there are many good reasons for a Bangladeshi student to consider an education in Australia.

Ambassador Niblett made the remark while inaugurating the International Development Program (IDP) Australia higher education exhibition at a city hotel.

She said Australian universities and educational institutions enjoy an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research, with a strong commitment to quality, high academic standards, and programs of continuous improvement.

The exhibition sees 30 Australian institutions in attendance for students to learn about Australian universities and institutions, including the types of courses on offer, costs, and other important information for studying in Australia.

Australia has five of the best cities in the world for students based on student mix, affordability, quality of life, and employer activity.

Each year, the Australian government provides more than $200 million in international scholarships globally.

Currently, over 6,000 Bangladeshi students are studying in Australia and this number is growing each year, said the Australian High Commission in Dhaka.

Since 2002, Australia has supported IDP to organise two Australian Education Excellence Showcases in Dhaka.

The exhibition is free for students and will be open from 10am to 5pm until Thursday.
