Tk 50cr for scientific research

The finance minister today proposed allocation of Tk 50 crore for scientific research and development in the country.

Scientific research is one of the prerequisites for increasing productivity and maintaining long-term economic growth, AHM Mustafa Kamal said in his budget speech at the parliament.

Opportunities will be created to encourage research and development activities in the country and that’s whyscientific research and development mandatory, he added.

Digital Primary Education project 

The government is going to take a pilot project titled ‘Digital Primary Education’ to facilitate qualitative improvement in education by enhancing the capacity of primary education together with the use of ICT, said the finance minister.

Under the project, interactive classrooms will be established in 503 model primary schools.

The following programmes will continue in 2019-20 to ensure the ongoing development of primary and mass education.

The government also construct classrooms in schools on the basis of prioritised requirements; demand-driven repair and refurbishment of schools; construction of wash-blocks and tube wells in schools; providing budget for implementation of school level improvement plan and upazila primary education planin all government primary schools, said finance minister.

Government also plans to supply computers and ICT equipment to schools, he added.
