Folk fest registration from today

After a one-year wait, Dhaka International Folk Fest is back again. 

The festival that features folk artistes of home and abroad is all set to begin this November at Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital.

The online registration for the festival has already started from Tuesday. 

Folk music lovers can register their names visiting the website of Dhaka International Folk Fest, www.dhakainternationalfolkfest.com. The registration is free. 

The festival-goers can also register from shohoz.com while Grameenphone subscribers can register from MyGP app as well. The registration process will be running non-stop for five days, according to organisers. 

The three-day event is scheduled to be held from 15 to 17 November every day from 6:00pm to 12 midnight. 

The festival, presented by Meril and powered by Dhaka Bank Limited, Grameenphone and Radhuni, is being organised by Sun Foundation and Sun Communications Ltd.

This year, a total of 174 folk artistes from seven countries including hosts Bangladesh will perform this year, said chairman of Sun Foundation and Sun Communications Limited Anjan Chowdhury. 

He said this holding a press conference at the Westin Dhaka in the capital on Monday. 

Chairman of Bengal Foundation Abul Khair, chief executive officer and managing director of Dhaka Bank Limited Syed Mahbubur Rahman, chief business officer of Grameenphone Mahmud Hossain and popular folk singer Momtaz Begum, among others, were present at the press meet.

This event has become our festival of souls and folk music lovers eagerly wait for it, Momtaz told the press conference. 

Eminent artistes and troupes like Momotaz, Baul Abdul Hai Dewan, Baul Kabir Shah, Arnob, Nakshikatha, Swarobanjo and Bhabna Nritya Dol from Bangladesh will perform during the three-day festival. 

Wadali Brothers, the Raghu Dixit Project, Satyaki Banerjee from India, Shafqat Amanat Ali from Pakistan, Majaz from Bahrain, Grammy award winner Los Texmaniacs from the USA, Dikanda from Poland and Las Migas from Spain will come to Dhaka to participate in the event.
