Tk 836 crore for Information Ministry,'Information Complex' in each district

The government has allocated Taka 836 crore for the Ministry of Information in the proposed budget for the financial year (FY) 2016-2017. 

The allocation is Taka 137 crore higher than the revised budget of the previous FY 2015-16, which was Taka 699 crore. 

Announcing the budget proposals at the Jatiya Sangsad here today, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said, "I propose to allocate Tk 663 crore in non-development and Taka 173 crore in development budgets for the Ministry of Information for FY2016- 2017." 

Placing the budget in the Parliament, the minister said, we have a plan to establish 'Information Complex' in each district in order to strengthen capacity of press and media in the district.Besides, we are implementing an extensive campaign for branding Bangladesh throughout the world, the minister further said.

Apart from this, Muhith said, our initiatives to expand and modernize Bangladesh Betar, Televison and Film Industry will continue.
