Third-grader killed in Rangamati after failed rape bid

A class three student was strangled to death allegedly by her private tutor after she resisted his attempt to rape her in Kaptai upazila of Rangamati on Saturday.
The killer is identified as Baching Mong Marma, 40.
Police arrested the teacher when he was trying to dump her body in the field this morning.
Confirming the incident, Ashraf Uddin, officer-in-charge of Chandraghona Police Station said 10-year-old Mitali Marma along with other students went to the private tutor’s house in Rakhali’s Purbo Kodala area around 10 am on Saturday.
The OC said the teacher allowed everyone, except Mitali, to leave his house after study. Later, he attempted to rape her.
‘Mong Marma strangled her to death in face of resistance from the girl’, Ashraf Uddin added.
The girl’s family informed the local police station as she remained missing since yesterday morning.
