Prime Minister pays homage to Bangabandhu on Homecoming Day

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the Homecoming Day of the architect of the country’s independence.

She paid the tributes by placing wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city.

The Prime Minister stood there in solemn silence for some time showing deep respect to the the Father of the Nation.

Flanked by ministers and central leaders of  Bangladesh Awami League, Sheikh Hasina, on behalf of her party, placed another wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu as its president.

Later, leaders of Awami League’s associate bodies, including Jubo League, Chhatra League, Sramik League, Mohila Awami League, Swechchhasebak League, Krishak League and different socio-cultural organisations placed wreaths at the portrait of the great leader.

Bangabandhu returned to independent Bangladesh via London and New Delhi on January 10 in 1972 after 290 days of captivity in a Pakistan jail.
