Girl ‘kills self’ over theft allegation in Narsingdi

A 12-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after being accused of stealing a mobile phone set at Khainput village in Shibpur upazila on Friday night.
Shibpur police station officer-in-charge Syeduzzaman said Aziza Begum, a class-V student and daughter of Abdus Sattar, set herself on fire by pouring kerosene around 8pm after her uncle accused her of stealing his mobile phone set.
She was taken to Narsingdi District Hospital with severe burn injuries and then shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she died at night.
