PM for strong economic relation with Spain

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today laid importance on strengthening economic cooperation with Madrid as Bangladesh values the relation with Spain.
She invited Spanish investment in the economic zones of Bangladesh saying the investment can make the relation to a better position in future.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this when newly appointed Spanish ambassador Alvaro de Salas Gimenez de Azcarate made a courtesy call on her at her Tejgaon office here today.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, PM's press secretary Ehsanul Karim said the prime minister expressed satisfaction over the excellent relation between Dhaka and Madrid.
Spain was always supportive to Bangladesh after independence, she said. She particularly acknowledged the support of Spain to Bangabandhu when he started rebuild the war ravaged country.
The prime minister extended thanks to the Spain government for translating the autobiography of Bangabandhu - "Unfinished Memoir" in Spanish language. To Bangabandhu, she said, Spanish was a very sweet language.
Sheikh Hasina briefed the envoy about the struggle of Bangabandhu for liberating and rebuilding Bangladesh.
The Spanish envoy said during his tenure he would try to enhance the relation between the two countries as well as trade bodies and expand areas of cooperation. He highly praised the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina saying 'you are an example for the world."
The envoy said Spain intends to open a consulate in Chittagong. He said the Spanish version of the 'Unfinished Memoir' will be published soon.
The envoy also shared his experience of visiting the Banganbandhu Museum saying the pictures and objects of Bangabandhu touched him very much.
PMO senior secretary Suriya Bagum was present at that time.
