A Rajshahi court today ordered for exhuming the body of Maldivian model and a medical student in Bangladesh, Raudha Athif, for fresh autopsy.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman passed the order after Inspector Asmaul Hoque of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police sought the order yesterday.

The court also ordered that the exhumation to be done in presence of an additional district judge, Moqbul Hossain, a court sub-inspector, told The Daily Star.

“We will form a ‘neutral medical board’ and will fix the date for exhumation,” said CID Inspector Asmaul Hoque.

Earlier yesterday, Nazmul Karim Khan, special superintendent of CID in Rajshahi, said a second autopsy was necessary because the previous one ruled her death as suicide.

Her father rejected the report and claimed that she was murdered.

Raudha Athif, a 2nd year student of Islami Bank Medical College in Rajshahi, was found dead at her dormitory on March 29.

The 21-year-old, who was featured in the cover of Vogue magazine as a model, was buried at Hetomkhan Graveyard in Rajshahi city on April 1.

Police recorded an unnatural case filed by the college authorities on the day of her death, while her father Mohamed Athif lodged a murder case with a Rajshahi court accusing a classmate on April 10.
