ECNEC approves 8 projects involving Tk 3, 289.43cr

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) today approved eight projects involving a total of Tk 3, 289.43 crore.

The approval was given in the ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar here with ECNEC chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Of the total project cost, Tk 2, 412.44 crore will come from the National exchequer, Tk 34.59 crore from the funds of the implementing agencies and the remaining Tk 842.40 crore will come as project assistance, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told journalists at a post-meeting briefing.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked authorities concerned to ensure housing facilities for all members of police force. She ordered to take up a big project in this regard, Kamal added.

The minister said the Prime Minister also asked the authorities concerned to build water reservoir with cyclone shelters to be built by the government at the country's coastal area to store rain water for the use during any contingency period.

The approved projects are costal town environmental infrastructure project (revised) (Tk 1,057.51 crore), development of different important roads in Rajshahi metropolitan city (Tk 172.98 crore), expansion and development of important regional highways (Tk 599.74 crore), expansion and development of important regional highways (Tk 476.39 crore), expansion and development of important regional highways (Tk 598.10 crore), development of Kishoreganj- Karimganj-Chamraghat-Mithamoin road (Tk132.53 crore), construction of police lines in Barisal metropolitan and Khulna district police (Tk 152.10 crore) and setting up of two complete 10 kilowatt FM radio centers in Mymensingh and Gopalganj (Tk 100.08 crore).
