Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina goes to Tungipara in Goplaganj on Sunday to pay homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

It would be the premier's maiden visit to Tungipara, the ancestral home of Bangabandhu, after her reelection as the Awami League president.

The leaders of newly elected Awami League Central Working Committee (ALCWC) will also accompany her.

Official sources said Sheikh Hasina would leave Dhaka for Tungipara by an Air Force helicopter Sunday afternoon.

After her arrival at Tungipara Upazila Complex Helipad, the premier will straight go the Mausoleum of Bangabandhu and pay tributes to the great leader by placing floral wreaths there. She will later offer Fateha and join a special munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul.

Meanwhile, stringent security measures have been taken across the district ahead of the visit of the prime minister, Superintendent of Police of the district SM Emran Hossain told BSS.

Sheikh Hasina has been reelected president of Awami League unanimously in the 20th national council of the party on October 22-23 while Obaidul Quader was elected as its new general secretary.

This is the eighth time Sheikh Hasina, the elder daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was reelected as the head of Awami League, one of the oldest political parties of the subcontinent.
