The US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal arrived here this morning on a two-day official visit. 

During her visit, Biswal is expected to meet with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and government high officials to discuss issues of shared concern of terrorism and violent extremism.

She will also offer U.S. assistance to the Bangladeshi government's efforts to counter terrorism and violent extremism, US embassy sources said. 

The US Assistant Secretary of State will also have meetings with the embassy officials, local business and other diplomatic representatives to discuss about security issues.

Wrapping up her two-day Dhaka visit, Nisha Desai will travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka where she will meet with senior government officials, political leaders, and civil society representatives to discuss bilateral economic cooperation as well as democratic governance and reconciliation.

Deputy Assistant Secretary for South Asia Manpreet Singh Anand will accompany her during her two nations visit.
