Sewing machine, rickshaw van distributed in Bagerhat

A total of 75 sewing machines, 48-rickshaw, 90-rickshaw van and 13-wheel chair were distributed free of cost among 226 destitute and physically challenged people of the district on Wednesday.
Bagerhat Zila Parishad distributed the sewing machines, rickshaw, rickshaw van and wheel chair with a view to helping them under its Poverty Alleviation and Development project.
A simple function was arranged on the occasion at the Zila Parishad auditorium.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Social Welfare Dr. Mozammel Hossain distributed the materials as the chief guest. Zila Parishad administrator M Kamruzzaman Tuku presided over the function.
The government has taken different programmes for alleviating poverty and welfare of the destitute and poor people.
