Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken all responsibilities for the treatment of ailing Nurjahan Begum, the pioneer in women journalism in Bangladesh.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken all responsibilities for the treatment of Nurjahan Begum, the editor of weekly magazine 'Begum' who has been undergoing treatment at the Square Hospital," PM's Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil told BSS today.

Shakil also said the Prime Minister is keeping round-the-clock contact with the hospital authorities about the treatment of Nurjahan Begum, the country's senior most female journalist. She also wished her early recovery.

On Monday, the Prime Minister sent her Special Assistant to the Square Hospital to see the condition of Nurjahan Begum.

While talking to Nurjahan Begum's family members, the PM's Special Assistant informed them that the Prime Minister is concerned over the illness of the Begum editor and wished her early recovery.

The 91-year-old Nurjahan Begum has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Square Hospital following respiratory problems and pneumonia, her daughter Flora Nasreen told BSS.

"My mother is undergoing treatment under Dr Jahangir Alam, a medicine specialist of the Square Hospital," she said.
