Women should have ICT knowledge: Chumki

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki today underscored the need for acquiring adequate knowledge on information and communication technology (ICT) in building the country as a developed one.

"The women of the country who constitute half of the country's population have to acquire ICT based knowledge to achieve the dream of becoming a middle income country by 2021," she said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of computer training project for women at Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Auditorium in the city, said a press release.

Women and Children Affairs Ministry is implementing the project which will provide necessary training to the 28,070 educated women at the 64 districts across the country. 

Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nasima Begum and Project Director District-based Women Computer Training poet M Faisal Shah, among others, were present on the occasion.

Jatiya Mohila Sangstha (JMS) Chairman Professor Momtaz Begum presided over the function. 

The five-year project will be completed on 2018. Under the project, the government is providing the computer application training for six months according to the syllabus of Technical Education Board.
