Mamata greets Hasina on birthday

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal extended her birthday greetings to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh on Monday.

In her statement, Banerjee hoped that with each passing year, the relationship between the two nations would be improved.

On Monday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the most prosperous statesman after the post-1975 carnage and the skipper of Bangladesh 's transformation into a middle-income country, turns 74.

Sheikh Hasina, the eldest daughter of Bangabandhu Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was born on this day in 1947 in Tungipara, Gopalganj district, a historic year that saw the division of the Indian subcontinent into India and Pakistan.
