Housewife killed in wild elephant attack in Bandarban

A housewife was trampled to death as a wild elephant assaulted her on Wednesday morning at Sarai union village Kalaipara, under Lama upazila in Bandarban.

The deceased has been identified as Jahera Begum, 55, Fazlul Haque's aunt, who hails from the city.

An elephant attacked Jahera Begum when she tried to drive away a herd of elephants that destroyed houses in the area, leaving her dead on the spot, according to locals reports.

Confirming the news, Amanul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC-Investigation) of Lama Police Station said, “We have heard the incident and members of police were sent to the spot”.
